With COVID-19 keeping many of us at home, we’ve finally gotten around to finishing the 101 odd-jobs and have changed our homes to cater to our new lockdown life, but what have we done with our gardens?

Just to let you know, all Easigrass operations are working as normal, and we continue to monitor the situation. We are working to keep all our staff and customers safe during this time.

Now has never been a better time to clean your artificial grass. With the sun shining and time on your hands, it’s time to look at what weekly and monthly artificial grass maintenance looks like.

If you have artificial grass at home or at the office, simple weekly tasks can be performed to keep the lawn ticking over and a deep clean can be done monthly to keep your artificial turf looking its very best. That said, there’s no hard and fast rule when it comes to artificial grass cleaning, so you can always switch up your artificial grass maintenance routine depending on your schedule.

How to clean fake grass

We provide excellent artificial grass maintenance services, if your fake grass is in need of some TLC, give our team call on 0139 234 8595.

Continue below to see what you can do from home to keep your artificial grass clean and fresh.

What tools do I need?

You will only need a few tools;

– Leaf blower (for larger areas)

– Garden Rake

– Garden Hose

– Stiff Brush

Cleaning artificial grass – weekly maintenance

Remove any loose debris, leaves or dirt with a soft-headed brush. Do this gently to prevent getting the bristles tied up in the blades of grass and to prevent damage to the drainage system below.

Cleaning artificial grass – monthly maintenance

For a deep clean, some people choose to use a mix of half water, half vinegar, but the smell of vinegar isn’t particularly pleasant. This is why we’d suggest using artificial grass cleaner – it will kill any bacteria that are harboured in your fake lawn and keep it smelling fresh.

To thoroughly clean your artificial lawn you’ll need to:

– Remove loose debris by hand or use a leaf blower (depending on the size of the area)

– Hose down the entire lawn (this will get rid of bits that a leaf blower missed)

– Use artificial grass cleaner on areas where you notice stains or spills and brush through. Rinse again if your product requires this

– Brush your lawn to ensure the grass blades are pointing upwards (pay attention to areas where outdoor furniture has been sitting, as the grass can become flattened and matted)

Preventing weeds in fake grass

If you see any weeds poking out through your artificial lawn, see if they can be coaxed out with a gentle pull from the base, repeat this across your lawn. For any that are too stubborn, a gentle weed killer will do the job. Leave the weed killer to do its magic for the suggested time period on the bottle and after this point, brush down and rinse with a hose.

Removing moss from fake grass

When removing moss from your artificial grass, turn to a power washer, this will lift and remove the unsightly moss. Afterwards, give the grass a good brush.

Although artificial lawns are known for being really low maintenance, they do require a little TLC every now and then to keep them looking and smelling fresh.
